This is a university research project, not a sales page. There is nothing to buy here. What there is: open results your engineers can use — and a standing invitation to the organisations whose data and scrutiny make those results trustworthy.

What the research offers

A quantified standardize-or-customize trade

The framework prices what is today decided by judgment: how much extra steel a common design costs across your site portfolio, against what serial fabrication saves. Results are published openly as the papers come out.

An open, reproducible toolchain

The structural engine builds on open tools — WISDEM, RAFT, OpenFAST, MoorPy, OpenMDAO — validated against the IEA 15 MW reference designs, with cost layers calibrated on ORBIT and NREL models. No black boxes.

The supply chain map

A free, interactive map of the European offshore wind supply chain — fabrication yards, ports, and component facilities across 24 countries — with open submission of corrections and additions.

Early sight of findings

Collaborating organisations see analyses and working results ahead of publication, and can steer which site families, substructure types, and fabrication setups the case studies cover.

Where industry input shapes the outcome

The production-economics side of the framework is only as good as the fabrication reality behind it. All industrial data is handled under research data agreements, anonymized, and aggregated before publication — collaborating organisations are referred to only as, for example, “an industrial yard.”

Reality checks from practitioners

Structured expert assessment of the framework is a formal part of the research design. If you run fabrication, FEED, or procurement, an hour of your scepticism is genuinely valuable.
