A PhD project with a public window
Twinyard is the public research site of the doctoral project Design-for-Industrialization of Offshore Wind Substructures at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). It is not a company website, not a product, and not a digital-twin platform.

I research how offshore wind substructures — the largest cost differentiator between bottom-fixed and floating wind — can move from one-off, engineer-to-order artefacts to configurable product families. My background spans structural engineering, production and operations management, and multi-objective optimization.

Institutional setting
The project is hosted by the Production Management research group at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, NTNU — with advisory input from NTNU's marine and civil engineering communities on the structural side of the work.
It is an NTNU-funded doctoral fellowship with no commercial sponsor. Industrial data, where used, is contributed under research data agreements and anonymized.

How the research is run
Reproducible by construction
Every result on this site traces to versioned code, open reference designs, and published methods. If a claim cannot be recomputed, it does not get published.
Physics before economics
The production-economics conclusions are only as good as the structural models underneath them. The framework sizes physics-compliant substructures first, then prices them.
Industry-grounded, industry-anonymous
Fabrication data comes from real industrial practice under research data agreements. It is anonymized and aggregated before anything is published — partners are never named.
Published, not shelved
The work targets peer-reviewed journals, open-source releases, and this public research log. Findings are shared as they mature, not archived in a thesis nobody reads.
A name, not a claim
The name predates the current research scope and is kept for continuity. The project is about design-for-industrialization and the standardize-or-customize decision — it does not build digital twins.
